We Are Back with a New Timetable

We are starting back next week with a new timetable and new looking space.
We have some strict guidelines to follow to allow us to reopen.
You can get a better understanding at SA.GOV Covid-19

After getting out the measuring tape and playing around with this new set up. We can now officially allow the max of 10 with one student either side of the pool table.

The space has been cleared around and under the table, so when you arrive please leave shoes and bags at the back of the table keeping the sides clear, then find your spot to set up your equipment and relax.

What do you need to be ready for class?

  1. Book online into a class, if the class is full the booking will tell you it is ‘Sold Out’. At class I will record the names and process the passes
  2. Cash is still OK – hand sanitiser, soap and alcohol wipes available
  3. We have the space ready with marks on the carpet to put your mat, X marks the spot.
  4. Your own or loaned equipment is a must at this time.
          – Mat and Strap are the basic essentials, blocks, blankets and bolsters are all wonderful and helpful props – Blankets can be rolled to create a bolster substitute
            – Consider getting your own quality equipment  from Go Vita Health Shop or Bolsters &  Things
            – Or cheaper options from places like K-mart
            – I have Mats, Bolsters and Blankets available to loan for regular students

Classes are nearly back!

With the latest lift of restrictions, we are getting very close to starting back some face to face classes.
As the Hall has had a few upgrades it isn’t opening until Tuesday the 9th of June.
In the meantime I will be launching a new timetable that will include both face to face and continuing live streaming classes. The studio classes will return in stages,  I will have it all on the website and email it out in the next week.

Requirements at hall classes

Social distancing means a max of 7 students
to ensure this…
        – bookings are required for every face to face class
        – so please get familiar with the online booking system
        – no text or verbal bookings
Alcohol wipes and sprays will be provided and must be used on the shared equipment
        – Consider getting your own equipment – SA company Bolsters &  Things
        – Or mats, blocks and straps are inexpensive from places like K-mart
        – for those that have borrowed equipment they can hold onto most things for the time being. I will only be looking to get a few blocks and straps back in the next few weeks.

   – just join the meeting and pay as you go $10

New Thursday 7am class and Zoom made easier

Thursday Morning Dynamic Class Starting Tomorrow
7am – 8am

COVID-19 restrictions update
Many of you have been asking when do we go back to normal classes?’
At this stage it looks as though restrictions will be lifted Friday the 5th of June for indoor fitness with spacing of one person every 4 square metres.
This means face to face classes will be able to run with a maximum of 6-8 people.
I will get out the measuring tape to work out exact number for the next newsletter and before opening classes.
It will also mean that booking in through the timetable is essential

I will be mixing it up with some face to face and some online classes, the 9.30am classes will be first to open.

The new Timetable will be finalised in the next few weeks.

Create a Yoga Space at Home

How to reduce distractions and become more
present in your home practice

Before we became socially distanced and isolated, you could walk into the studio which had been prepared to feel welcoming and calming, with an intention to help you relax and become present.

You may not have a space in your home that can be permanently dedicated as your own. However you can create a mobile space, a more flexible space for yourself at home, to please all your senses and create your Home Yoga Studio – even if its just for an hour or so.

With a small 3 bedroom home, a husband, 2 teenage boys and a dog. I was very used to recreating spaces in our home, until the shed was reformed!

Before
After

SIGHT – Remove clutter from the space or throw a rug over it to visually clear the area
TOUCH – Clean the area to roll out your yoga mat on. Or (like I used to do) roll out a clean rug with your yoga mat creating a space that feels welcoming to lay down and stretch out on.
SMELL – Burn incense, candles or favorite essential oil
TASTE – Drink water to cleanse the palate and body
SOUND – What sounds allow you to centre and focus?
Is it silence or the sounds of nature as you open a window, or does music help set the mood for your yoga?

Please try my personal collection of music I have made public

Online Classes

It was such a beautiful day on Saturday I was able to teach the morning class outside the hall on the lawn. We had a fun class adjusting to the unevenness of the ground and using retaining walls and the building to do inversions. Unfortunately it took a toll on my voice and I woke up Sunday morning unable to talk! Though some in my house might think this is not so unfortunate, lol.

So fingers crossed, I am hoping to be able to teach online at the end of this week. In the meantime I will be giving a few free classes as I get familiar with the new online system and while my voice recovers.

A New Online Timetable is on the website and I will be using Zoom to do live streaming.
Classes are now all $10 each, bookings and payments can be done through the website site as usual.

So set up your free Zoom account and download the app.

Temporary Closing

We are very sad to announce that we will be closing
We had hoped to continue till possible school closures, but due to the latest government announcements have decided to suspend all classes.

It is during these uncertain time that yoga is even more necessary and in time I hope to continue a modified program and bring you the option to join us via Skype or Zoom.

The last class is
Tuesday 24th from 6 – 7pm and will be a general class

With a maximum of 6 in the class please book in online as we meditate on Gratitude and practice an immune boosting sequence that involves inversions.

All passes will be on hold during this time.

This is the time to consider the advantage of having your own equipment.
Here are some online options

Bolsters and Things
Yoga King

If you are experiencing financial pressure and unable to purchase your own equipment then you can loan equipment from the studio
give me a call to discuss this option further 0412 091 365

COVID-19 challenges

As we are becoming more aware of coronavirus cases in Australia and concerned about the possible spread of it in our community, I want to share with you the measures we are taking in minimising risk at our little studio.

  • Frequent cleaning and disinfecting of all surfaces
  • Cleaning of mats after use (which we already do) with eucalyptus and tea tree spray
  • Option to clean any of the equipment before you use it with the spray
  • Plenty of hand wash in the bathroom and paper towels

So what about class sizes? some classes can get quite busy. I have a class limit of 14 but some days it is exceeded. To avoid this

  • booking in online each week – we have had a very relaxed system, including text and drop ins, with the currant situation I am asking everyone to use the online booking system and if you have any trouble please give me a call.
  • maximum size is now 10

As students you can help

  • Use your own mat and equipment if you can
  • Stay home if your sick
  • Remember the coughing and sneezing etiquette
  • Be kind and understanding to yourself and those around you (even when you can’t get what you want from the supermarket)
  • Keep up your practice – yoga calms the nervous system which supports and creates a strong immune system
  • use the online booking system

Remember you mental wellbeing is important so try to steer clear of sensationalist media.
Most importantly, remember to breathe through it all.
